The PM1300TX Dust Collector features the exclusive TurboCone™ which improves chip separation to prevent clogging of the filter, and increases packing efficiency of the collector bag. The canister filter offers superior filtering surface area over standard bags, and captures 98% of 2-micron particles. A digital timer can be set for up to 99 minutes, and an infrared sensor allows remote control operation. The all-metal duct improves rigidity and air flow. The clear collector bags are large capacity, which means less down-time changing them. Four swivel casters and conveniently located handles allow for easy mobility.

New spin on this dust collector delivers high CFM

Previous tests of dust collectors showed that the curvature and length of the flex-hose between the blower and the bags affected the airflow performance of the machine. Powermatic’s PM1300 replaced that hose with a tapered steel chute with smooth walls and rubber flange gaskets. This not only increases airflow, but also reduces air leaks. Because the chute adds rigidity as well, it requires only one leg to support the bag rim. That makes bag changes easier. (Incidentally, the bottom bag mounts to the rim with a hoop-style built-in band that I really like).

Using a pitot tube and manometer, I measured the PM1300’s airflow in cubic feet per minute (CFM) and resistance in inches of static pressure (SP). I tested it with the standard 30-micron bags (too porous, given the price of this machine), and also with the optional 1-micron canister filter with plastic lower bag, as shown. The PM1300 delivered over 1,000 CFM at nearly 3" of SP resistance in 6" duct. When I switched to 4" duct it cranked out nearly 750 CFM at 8.6" SP. Those numbers decreased when I used the 30-micron bags. You also get a magnetic switch and built-in remote control and timer. The bottom line: This machine outperforms its peers in 6" ductwork.
